Our AIARE Level 1 and Level 2 Avalanche Workshops will enhance your backcountry skills. The classroom portions are held in Pagosa Springs. The field portions are held on Wolf Creek Pass.

In these courses we emphasize avalanche terrain recognition, decision making during trip planning and during backcountry travel, travel techniques for avalanche terrain, and avalanche rescue skills. The groups are small (7 students per instructor in Level 1; 6 students/instructor in Level 2) providing for individualized instruction.

Instructors Sandy Kobrock and Mark Mueller own and operate Wolf Creek Backcountry and the Pass Creek Yurt. Sandy and Mark have 50 combined years of operational avalanche field work and avalanche education upon which to draw. Their backcountry experience includes extended ski tours in Colorado, the Sierra Nevada, the Cascades, British Columbia, and Europe.
